You are familiar with Indian culture and custom because India is a religious country, where the people believe in God. Today I will give detail information about Kedarnath Temple, situated in the lap of the Himalayan Mountains of Uttarakhand.

Kedarnath is one of the best temple in India, located in Rudraprayag district of Uttrakhand. The place is located in the Garhwal region of the Himalayan Mountains at an elevation of 3584 (11755 Foot) meters above sea level. According to Hinduism, Kedarnath temple is considerd to be biggest place of Shiva. Kedarnath temple know Chardham and Panch Kedars along with 12 Jyotirlinga sections.

Due to the difficult weather here , this temple is opens in the month of April and novenber.During these months, people come from far and wide to visit here. Due to which there is a lot of crowd here But the tourist who comes to visit here thinks of staying there, that now i want to live this life.

Because the attractive environment here attracts the tourist’smind,due to which, people come to visit from abroad. Construction history of the temple: According to the Puranic story, on the kedar Shringa of the Himalayas, the great sage Mahatpasvi and incarnation of Lord Vishnu used

to do penance. Pleased with his worship, Lord Shankar appeared and according to his request,provided the bride to live forever as a Jyotirlinga. This place is located on the Kedarnath mountain Raja called kedar in the Himalayas.this temple was first built by the Pandavas behind the existing temple,but due to the beating of time,this temple disappeared.

Later in 8th century,Adishankaracharya built a new temple, which was buried in snow for 400 years.According to Rahul Sankrityayan,this temple dates back to 12-13th century.Historian Dr.Shiva Parshad Dabral belives that Shaivites have been visiting kedarnath

befor Adi Shankaracharya,even then this temple was present.It is belived that pilgrimage to Kedarnath has been going on for thousand years. It is said that the ancient temple of Kedareshwar Jyotirlinga was built by the Pandavas.Later,it was renovated by Janmejaya,grandson of Abhimanyu.

Time to open the doors of the temple: On the second day of the Deepavali Mahaparva(Padwa), the gates of the temple are closed during the winter season.The lamp keep on burning for 6 months.The priests close the honors boards and take the Deity of God and the punishment to Ukhimath under the mountain for 6 months.

After 6 months,the doors of Kedarnath open in May,then the journey to Uttarakhand begins. No one lives in and round the temple for 6 months, but for the 6 months of wonder,the lamp also keeps on burning and there is constant worship. After the opening of the valve,it is also a matter of surprise that one gets same cleanliness as he left.

Kedarnath Accident 16th June 2013                                     

Actually, between June 13 and June 17, there was a lot of rain in the state of Uttarakhand.  The rainfall which usually occurs during the monsoon days was much higher than the normal rainfall, which melted the Chaurabari glacier.

 The glacier melting caused the Mandakini river to rise and floods affected a large part of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and western Nepal.The heavy rain water passed directly through the mountains to the Kedarnath temple, causing thousands of people to drift into the water.

 However, the most devastation occurred in religious places like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Hemkund Sahib. Dead bodies were found in the Shiva temple in Kedarnath.  Thousands of people died due to heavy rains and the glacier melting. 

 Millions of people became homeless and millions of rupees were lost.  Most of the avenues were cut. Due to the cracking of several mountains, everything was turned into rubble.  The temple of Lord Kedarnath built in the 8th century was also damaged.  Nearly 5000 people lost their lives. Thinking about this tragedy that came 7 years ago, people still shiver

After 16th june 2013 of three events that shocked everyone.

  1.  When Kedarnath was flooded, a sheela suddenly came near the temple, due to which no one came to the temple, while all the federal shops around the temple were destroyed.
  2. Nandi, beloved of Lord Shiva, is located at the main entrance of the temple, but Shiva’s Leela is imperfect.
  3.  There was no news at all on nandi.Shivalinga is located inside the temple where all the devotees visit and offer their foreheads.

  But the devotees who had offered the bell letters before the flood, they got only the toys after the flood, while the debris was 4 to 5 feet inside the temple.  That is why people believe that this is the home of Lord Shiva.  Whenever you have time and money, make a visit to Kedarnath temple.
